MBABANE – The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) is off to the ANOCA Elective Assembly.
The 22nd Ordinary Session of the African National Olympic Committees Association (ANOCA) General Assembly will take place in Algiers, Algeria, tomorrow and will conclude on Friday.
EOCGA Marketing and Communications Officer Mkhulisi Dlamini have confirmed that President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Maxwell Jele left yesterday.

“This major gathering will bring together representatives from various National Olympic Committees across Africa to discuss vital issues related to the development of sports on the continent and to make important decisions that will shape the future of athletics in Africa,” Dlamini said.
He stated that during their time in Algiers, they will engage in discussions concerning the advancement of Olympic sports, share insights on national sports initiatives and collaborate with other leaders to enhance the Olympic movement across Africa.
“Moreover, this assembly is an opportunity for Eswatini to strengthen its ties with other nations and advocate for the interests of our athletes and sports programmes,” he further stated.
In the lead-up to these continental elections, ANOCA had zonal elections, where Eswatini retained its seat in the Zone VI executive.

From being treasurer, it was elected as secretary general, a position held by Jele. Former EOCGA President Peter Shongwe served as treasurer in the previous quadrennial.
