Female Libyan returnee dies in Rivers

ONE of the Libyan returnees who arrived in Nigeria with the fifth batch of migrants has died at the University Teaching Hospital of Port Harcourt, in Rivers State.

The deceased, who was identified as Miss Towabola Adebayo, who took ill before getting to Nigeria, was taken to UPTH in an ambulance on Tuesday immediately health officials on the ground at the Port Harcourt International Airport noticed that she was not in a good health condition.

Miss Adebayo, who could not speak to journalists at about 1.15 am when she was spotted inside an ambulance at the airport, was said to have been admitted at the UPTH Accident and the Emergency Unit, where she died in the early hours of Thursday.

A statement from the Media and Public Relations Officer of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Sani Datti, which was made available to Saturday PUNCH on Friday indicated that the 32-year-old woman from Ogun State was treated of vomiting, general weakness of the body and abdominal pains before she died.

“One of the Nigerian migrants stranded in Libya that the Federal Government evacuated back home has died after two days of medical treatment at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.
