One in three Bulgarians aged 25-64 has university degree

A Eurostat analysis on the level of education in the EU in 2017 shows that around 28 percent of Bulgarians aged 25 to 64 (almost one in three) had university degrees.

This figure for the EU stands at around 31 percent. There were 54 higher educational establishments – 50 universities and 4 colleges – in Bulgaria in 2017, National Statistical Institute data shows. The level of unemployment in 2017 was lowest among university degree holders – just 3 percent – and highest among people with primary, or a lower level of education – around 45 percent.
