8-year-old girl killed when family ejected in crash on I-45 north of Willis, authorities say

HOUSTON – A child was killed in a crash Saturday afternoon involving multiple vehicles on I-45 northbound in Montgomery County. 

It happened on the North Freeway, just south of Calvary Road, north of the Willis area.

Three people were transported to the hospital -- one woman and two children, ages 8 and 3,- according to Montgomery County officials. 

Officials said the 8-year-old girl and woman were ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

The 8-year-old girl did not survive, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The 3-year-old girl was flown to Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center in critical condition, troopers said.

The woman was taken to Conroe Regional Hospital and is in serious condition, officials said. Two other adults involved in the crash was taken to Conroe Regional in unknown condition.

The northbound lanes of I-45 were closed from Calvary Road to Pollard Road for several hours as officials investigated the scene.
