Police identify man fatally shot in Northeast Washington

Police have identified a man who was fatally wounded in a double shooting Thursday in Northeast Washington.

Officers responded about 9:35 p.m. to the 1800 block of Corcoran Street NE, a few blocks from Gallaudet University, to the report of a shooting, D.C. police said. Two men with what appeared to be gunshot wounds were taken to hospitals, officials said.

One man, identified as 26-year-old Andre Carroll, who has no fixed address, died as a result of his injuries, police said. The other man’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The slaying brings the number of people killed in homicides in the city to 164 this year, according to a tracking done by The Washington Post. That is compared with 160 homicides in 2018 for the District.
