University of Arizona Center for Innovation to serve as liaison to support clean energy innovators

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - The University of Arizona Center for Innovation will continue supporting the Department of Energy’s American-Made Challenges.

The center was awarded an additional three-year contract from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. In May 2020, UACI was selected to be one of only six Power Connectors across the nation, to collaborate in the $3 million prize competition designed to revitalize U.S. solar manufacturing.

Each challenge is dedicated to lessening obstacles U.S.-based innovators face in reaching the manufacturing scale by accelerating the cycles of learning from years into weeks, while helping to create partnerships that connect entrepreneurs to the private sector and the network of DOE’s national laboratories across the nation.

With the new subcontract award of up to $300,000 over three years, UACI will not only support the solar challenge but will be supporting all American-Made challenges, providing assistance with three more clean energy technology challenges.
