The Labor Party’s (AP) leader Jonas Gahr Støre is calling for new support efforts for young people who became unemployed during the corona crisis.

Støre challenged Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) in the Norwegian parliament (Storting) on Wednesday.

He noted that additional efforts should be made to support young people under the age of 30 who are laid off or unemployed.

We can face the danger of losing a generation to the coronavirus, he warned.

Støre: More action needed

Støre pointed to statistics that show that the number of young unemployed Norwegian on NAV measures has been virtually stagnant in the past year.

Støre warned that additional action was needed.

In response, Solberg said that the government’s corona efforts were focused on the young.

As examples of such measures, Solberg pointed to the government’s investments in education and the increase in the number of study places in vocational education.
