Karen Buck, director of workforce initiatives at The Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) has been selected by Lehigh Valley Business as a 2024 Women of Influence recipient.

Women of Influence Awards honor high-achieving women for their career accomplishments. The honorees are selected based on their professional experience, community involvement, and commitment to mentoring.

Rich Hobbs, president & CEO of the Manufacturers Resource Center said Buck is a “catalyst for change and the image of manufacturing. She is a driving force behind the What’s So Cool Student Video Contests and the Pennsylvania Dream Team Ambassador Program that impact thousands of students across the region.”

Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media/Lehigh Valley Business said the 2024 Women of Influence are “professionally successful and committed to their communities and mentoring.”

This year’s Women of Influence will be honored at an awards celebration on May 8 at DeSales University’s University Center, 2755 Station Road in Center Valley.

The Residence at Village Greens

The Residence at Village Greens, a senior living community under construction in Sinking Spring and slated to open this summer — has named its leadership team.

A Berks County native and longtime resident of Sinking Spring, Terri Sanelli has been named  executive operations officer of the community. Sanelli previously led IntegraCare’s Exton Senior Living team in Chester County for two years. Sanelli has decades of experience in senior care and has been a nurse for 30 years.

She is a graduate of Reading Area Community College Nursing Program. Sanelli is a Certified Dementia Practitioner, and she received her administrators license in 2000.

Kim Kostival will join Sanelli on the leadership team at The Residence at Village Greens as community relations director. Kostival has 30 years of experience in senior living care. A graduate of Kutztown University, Kostival also has a background in art education.

She enjoys speaking in the community on senior health topics at senior living clubs and community organizations. Kostival also is locally known as a Pysanky, Ukrainian egg artist. She holds craft shows, art-related presentations and art classes in her free time. Kostival is involved in the music ministry of her church as a soloist and choir member.

Members 1st Federal Credit Union

Members 1st Federal Credit Union has announced that Michael Wilson, president and CEO; Ade Bakare, associate board director; Eric Darr, supervisory committee member; and Heather Valudes, associate supervisory committee member, have all been named to Central Penn Business Journal’s 2024 Power 100 List.

The fifth annual Power 100 List recognizes local leaders who are actively shaping and influencing their communities. Those named to the list come from all sectors, including law, finance, education, government, health care, business and nonprofits.

Wilson has been named to the list for the second consecutive year.

Saxton & Stump

Litigator Samuel D. Harrison has joined Saxton & Stump as senior counsel. He joins the firm from Troutman Pepper, an AmLaw 50 firm. Harrison is a member of the firm’s commercial litigation, higher education, and title IX groups, with a particular focus on antitrust, class action, and higher education litigation. He will be working out of the firm’s growing downtown Philadelphia office.

Harrison is an experienced litigator of complex disputes on behalf of businesses.  He has prevailed in antitrust litigation at the trial court and appellate level, including claims based on the Sherman Act and related state law doctrines. He also has extensive experience defending financial services and technology companies in RICO, consumer protection, data protection, and fraud suits, and is the co-author of the Third Circuit Chapter of the American Bar Association’s Survey of Federal Class Action Law.

Outside the courtroom, Harrison regularly counsels domestic and international businesses on compliance, competition, pricing, and dealer/distributor issues. In the higher education context, Harrison has represented colleges and universities in critically sensitive matters.

In 2023 and 2024, “Best Lawyers in America” named Harrison to its “Ones to Watch” list for commercial litigation. He is active with the American Bar Association’s Fraud Subcommittee of the Business Torts Committee, holding various leadership positions since 2020.

A summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Gettysburg College, he earned his law degree cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where he was a finalist in the Edwin R. Keedy Moot Court Competition and an executive editor of the school’s Journal of Business Law.  He previously served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Renée Marie Bumb of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Barley Snyder

Attorney Karen Toth has recently joined the firm of Barley Snyder in its Lancaster office.

Toth brings more than two decades of experience to Barley Snyder’s employee benefits practice. In her practice, she assists employers with all aspects of their employee benefit offerings, including design and operation of both retirement and welfare plans as well as executive compensation arrangements. Toth is well-versed with IRS and DOL compliance programs and ERISA fiduciary obligations and best practices She has also represented clients in IRS and DOL audits.

Toth’s career history includes working at a large law firm, consulting firm, and as in-house counsel with retirement plan service providers. Before joining Barley Snyder, she served as ERISA counsel for a national retirement services firm where she advised internal senior business leaders and clients in all aspects of retirement plan and executive compensation arrangements.
