Lifelong Learning Collaborative’s summer courses in arts, current affairs, literature, fitness and fun

LIFELONG LEARNING COLLABORATIVE ANNOUNCES SUMMER COURSE SCHEDULE; REGISTRATION OPENS MAY 13

The Lifelong Learning Collaborative (LLC) opens registration for its Summer Session online at 9 am on Monday, May 13, with courses open to all who are interested in learning in a friendly, collaborative environment. Members receive the catalog automatically; non-members may request it in advance at https://www.lifelonglearningcollaborative.org/catalog-request/

Summer courses take a light approach to arts, current affairs, literature, fitness and fun. They run weekly and last for four to eight weeks. In-person classes meet at Temple Beth-El in Providence (open to people of all faiths), other courses are held via Zoom or hybrid classes that can be taken either in person or online.

Summer Session courses beginning the week of June 17:

Forget Plymouth Rock – the real American Origin story is here.
Visit sites from Providence to Bristol to learn the American Origin story from the perspective of the Pokanoket Nation of 60 indigenous tribes.

All That’s Jazz: Preview of the Newport Jazz Festival
Preview each of the artists who will appear on the Newport stage and conclude with a live Jazz Showcase concert at Temple Beth-el.

A personalized exercise course to help you get back on your feet with increased stamina, strength, agility, flexibility and overall health.

Plein Air Art

Zoom to the Moon!
Learn about many aspects of our moon from academic and NASA experts, and from each other.

Beach Reads – Good stories, maybe not great literature
Meeting every two weeks, we’ll read four short novels set in coastal areas, then have presentations and discussions of the books and their locations.

Unusual Travel Experiences
Each participant is invited to discuss a unique, less-traveled country, whether they’ve visited it or not, digging deep into the culture, not just showing slides.

Cell Phone Photography Club
If you enjoy taking and enhancing photos using the amazing editing capabilities in your cell phone, share your techniques and talent with other enthusiasts.

Scrabble Social Group
All levels are welcome to enjoy the game and meet new friends. Optional dinner and conversation to follow each meeting.
