Sumter County teams up with Alabama Power for Adopt-a-School partnership

TUSCALOOSA, AL- Alabama Power Company is teaming up with York West End Junior High School in Sumter County as part of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama’s Adopt-A-School program.

York West End Junior High School students will be getting access to opportunities with Alabama power including scholar grants, and volunteers from Alabama will be helping out on school projects, events, career awareness programs and more.

“Alabama Power is proud to support educational initiatives in West Alabama through the chamber’s Adopt-A-School program,” said Alabama Power Community Relations Specialist Leah Banks. “We feel strongly that programs like this make a huge impact with students and teachers, and we look forward to a partnership with York West End Junior High School.”

Alabama Power also supports Tuscaloosa County’s Davis-Emerson Middle School and Tuscaloosa City Schools’ STARS Academy.

“Alabama Power is a great partner, providing unwavering support to nurture and uplift our schools. Their commitment to education is inspiring,” said Sumter County Schools Superintendent Marcy Burroughs. “We’re grateful for their efforts.”
