Speaking at the Karnali Province Assembly, he emphasized that any amendment would be based on national needs, not haphazard decisions. Oli also reiterated the stability of the ruling coalition until the next election and assured provincial concerns would be addressed in the upcoming budget.

Non-Establishment Camp Wins All Office-Bearer Seats in Morang CPN (UML): Ajambar Rai triumphed as Morang CPN (UML) chairman, defeating establishment-backed Rajkumar Ojha by 39 votes. His faction, aligned with former President Bidya Bhandari, opposed KP Sharma Oli’s camp. Sagar Thapa won vice-chairman, Som Raj Thapa became secretary, while Santosh Bantawa Rai and Usha Jha secured deputy secretary positions. With all office-bearer seats claimed, vote counting for district members continues, with 71 already elected unopposed.

Deepak Manange Granted 20% Sentence Reduction: Gandaki Province MP Rajiv Gurung, alias Deepak Manange, has secured a 20% reduction in his sentence per a Kathmandu District Court ruling. Originally sentenced to five years for assaulting Milan Gurung, he had already served 2 years and 8 months. With a one-year remission granted, Manange now faces only 16 more months in jail. He was imprisoned on November 12, 2024.

20 Stranded Nepalis Rescued from Thailand: The Nepali Embassy in Bangkok has rescued and repatriated 20 Nepalis stranded in Thailand after being deceived with false job promises. They had traveled illegally via New Delhi, aiming for jobs in Palau. The embassy warned against illegal migration to countries like Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand and urged Nepalis to seek foreign employment only through government-approved channels to avoid exploitation.

Vandalism at TU Rector and Dean’s Offices: A group of students vandalized the offices of Tribhuvan University’s Rector Khadga KC and IoST Dean Shankar Khanal in Kirtipur on Friday.
