Thousands of people packed the downtown area to enjoy the annual Mal's St. Paddy's Parade and Festival of a sunny Saturday afternoon. The streets were lined six deep to view the assortment of floats and queens that have become a tradition for the metro event. It was the 25th anniversary of the parade.

A crowd of thousands lined the downtown streets of Jackson to enjoy the annual St. Paddy's Day parade. While cooler weather and the threat of rain may have kept some from attending, those who braved the weather enjoyed dozens of bead-throwing floats and walking Sweet Potato Queens.

Thousands of people traveled to downtown Jackson to watch and enjoy the 2005 St. Paddy's Day Parade Saturday afternoon. The day began with a pet parade and a children's parade near the old Capitol Museum. The main event drawing Sweet Potatoe Queens from across the country and dozens of floats began at 1 p.m. and lasted over two and one-half hours. There was no shortage of beads and the colorful trinkets filled the air and into the hands of parade watchers.
