CINCINNATI (WKRC)— Hundreds of University of Cincinnati medical students are celebrating this week after discovering their residency placements, marking a significant milestone in their medical careers.

Amelia Gavulic, a UC medical student, expressed her excitement about the next chapter, saying, "I'm just looking forward to starting my career as a surgeon."

The annual event, known as Match Day, allows students to announce where they will continue their specialty training. For many, it is a moment to reflect on the journey and those who inspired them along the way.

Keyan Marshall, another UC medical student, shared his personal inspiration: "My brother actually inspired me to be a doctor. He had kind of a medical mystery when I was in middle school and for the longest time we couldn't figure out what was going on until finally he was diagnosed and treated."

The event not only marks the beginning of their professional journeys but also highlights the passion and dedication these future doctors have for the field of medicine.
