Midland Primary and High School learners compete in monthly quiz competition
Hosting their monthly quizzes in mathematics, English, and general knowledge, Midland Primary and High School hopes to better the performance of their learners in terms of critical thinking and intellectual engagement, boosting their confidence and problem-solving skills.

Midland Primary and High School recently held their monthly quiz competition. The event took place over three days, each day aimed at a different subject, or topic.
The competition started with an English quiz, which took place on February 07. Four learners from the primary school, and ten from the high school, won. The English quiz was followed by a math quiz, which happened on February 21, with seven learners emerging as winners.
The competition concluded with a general knowledge quiz on February 27, where three learners won.
These quizzes provided a dynamic platform for the learners to apply knowledge in a competitive, yet supportive, environment, enabling them to foster a culture of learning beyond the traditional classroom setting.
Participation in the various quizzes impacted the learners of Midland positively. They’ve developed quick thinking and time management skills, and the quizzes fostered healthy competition and teamwork.

By regularly hosting these quizzes, the school aims to instill confidence, and encourage teamwork among their learners, while motivating them to strive for excellence and develop essential skills for future academic and professional success.
Sharira Padayachy, the school’s principal, noted: “Quizzes help our learners become more engaged, motivated, and passionate about learning. Although we had a few learners who were scared, we, as a school, had to manage the nerves and anxiety. Despite these minor challenges, our learners showed remarkable resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship.”

Learners received participation certificates as a reward for taking part in the competition. The school will continue holding these quizzes, having seen the impact they have on their learners.
