Crestwood senior Hannah Ziegler is off to a strong start to the girls’ lacrosse season. The reigning Citizens Voice Performer of the Year recently achieved her 200th career point as she had three goals and five assists in a win over Holy Redeemer last week.

What are the emotions like as a senior, knowing this is the final season of your high school career: It’s definitely bittersweet, but I’m so excited to be back for another year. I’m sad that it’s my last one, but I think we have the potential to have a really good year.

Talk about Crestwood this year. Your team is off to a really good start: I’m happy. Obviously, we’ve missed the basketball girls, but we will be getting them back this week. We had to adjust without them, but I think we did a pretty good job of that. I’m happy that they will be back here soon. I think we have a really good chance of winning districts this year. I think we have the potential to be really good.

You have to be happy with the start of your season. You’ve had some nice matches here early, and reaching that 200th-point milestone is a great accomplishment: I didn’t even know I was close to reaching that milestone. That was really exciting and surprising. But I also credit that to the team because I couldn’t do it without them.

What does 200-career points mean to you: It just shows that all my hard work has paid off. I’ve put in a lot of time in the sport, and it feels good to know that I was able to reach the milestone. It was unexpected, but it was a good feeling.

You are one of the best draw-control players in the district. How much time have you put in to master that aspect of the sport: I’ve been doing it for all four years of high school. I’ve put in a lot of work, and coach (Russ) Kile has helped me a lot. Plus, I’ve had a lot of girls helping to push me and teach me some things along the way. It’s all helped me.
