Marshall has a new city manager

MARSHALL, Texas (KSLA) - The City of Marshall has a new city manager.
The Marshall City Council has named Melissa Byrne Vossmer as the new city manager after having a special meeting Monday night (March 24). Vossmer has been the interim city manager since October of 2024.
“I am excited to officially step into this role,” said Vossmer. “Working with Marshall’s dedicated staff and residents, I’ve discovered we have much to be grateful for here. We will keep working side by side, building on our progress, and finding new ways to strengthen and invest in Marshall’s future.”
Marshall Mayor Amy Ware expressed her support for Vossmer.

“Melissa Vossmer has already demonstrated strong leadership and dedication to our city during her time as interim city manager. I look forward to continuing to work with her to build on our successes and ensure Marshall thrives for years to come,” Ware said.
City officials say Vossmer is committed to having an open-door policy, and encourages people living in the city to talk to her about any issues.
Previously, Vossmer has served as the city manager in Lago Vista and Angelton, Texas, and in Lawton, Okla. She has also been assistant city manager in multiple places in Texas. Vossmer also previously served as the president of the Texas City Management Association.
Vossmer holds a BA in English from St. Mary of the Plains College and a master’s in public administration from the University of Kansas.
