SPRINGBORO, Ohio (WKEF) -- Two local athletes were selected to compete with national teams.
As the spring sports season continues, two Springboro soccer players, Aliana Weibel and Poppy Wakefield, have been chosen to participate in national team competitions.
A 2024 graduate of Springboro Schools and now freshman at Kent State University, Weibel, was invited to train with the Phlippine National Team in Dubai. She is set to join the squad as they prepare for two international friendlies against the United Arab Emirates in April.
Sophomore Poppy Wakefield was chosen to represent Panama’s U17 National Team in the Concacaf Championship in Nicaragua. She is scheduled to take the field in the following matches:
