James Wells obit photoJames D. Wells, 67, a lifelong resident of Jamesport, Missouri, died Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

James was born on June 3, 1957, in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, the son of John Wells and Alice (Henderson) Grice. He was a 1975 graduate of Tri-County High School in Jamesport. On Dec. 31, 1982, he married Dana Scott in Trenton, Missouri.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Kissick Construction and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 101. James was also a member of the Church of Christ in Jamesport. He enjoyed farming and deer hunting and had a deep love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Bryce Wells.

Survivors include his wife, Dana, of the home; daughters, Jamie Nolan (Jonathon) of Chillicothe, Missouri, Kristi Littrell of Smithville, Missouri, and Kara Lewis (Michael) of Smithville, Missouri; grandchildren, Braxton Nolan, Grayson and Wesley Lewis, and Kinslee Littrell; siblings, Connie McKay (Dallas) of Denison, Texas, and John Wells (Amber) of Jamesport, Missouri; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members, and his beloved dog, Punk.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Kickin’ Cancer with Kindness, in care of the funeral home.

The family will gather with friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home & Crematory in Jamesport. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Private graveside services will follow at Jamesport Masonic Cemetery in Jamesport.
