On Wednesday, March 26, students from years seven to 10 took on 20 intense rounds of one-minute maths questions in the global Mathletics World Maths Day competition and absolutely smashed it. Years nine and 10 placed first in Australia and an incredible 25th in the world. What an amazing achievement for our school.

A glimpse into learning
Mudgee Public School
Mudgee Public School recently hosted its first school tour for 2025, offering families a glimpse into the learning experiences, well-being initiatives, and extra opportunities available at the school. The tour began with a welcome from our talented Violin Ensemble, followed by visits to the stage three enrichment class, yarning circle, sports in action, technology hub, year four agentic mathematics lesson, The wellbeing hub, eco team and gardens, podcasting space, year one phonics lesson, and vibrant kindergarten classrooms. It was a joy to showcase what makes Mudgee Public School such a special place for students to learn, grow, and thrive.

A very special trip
Lue Public School
Last week, principal Caron McDonald together with principals Kelly Endacott from Hargraves Public School and Matt Ferrie from Goolma Public School, had the pleasure of accompanying a group of year student leaders from Lue, Hargraves, Goolma and Glen Alice Public Schools to the annual Young Leaders Day event in Sydney.
The group travelled to Sydney the day before and had some fun before the big event with a jet boat ride, dinner at Darling Harbour and tenpin bowling. After a good sleep (thank you to the Ibis Hotel Darling Harbour for excellent service once again), and a yummy breakfast, we headed to the International Convention Centre. Students listened to inspiring speakers who talked about their personal leadership experiences: Catherine Laga'aia, the actress playing Moana in the new Disney movie, screenwriter and author Thomas Duncan-Watt, Olympic swimmer Emma McKeon and Anthony 'Harries' Carroll from Bondi Rescue. It was a fabulous experience, one we have now been attending for over 10 years and which students look forward to as they enter their final year of primary school. We can't wait to see our young leaders put their skills into action.

Living in harmony
St Matthews Catholic School
Over the past few years, the St Matthews community has grown in the number of students and staff who were born overseas. The school has students from many countries: Latvia, Nepal, Brazil, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Ghana, India, Philippines, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Fiji, New Zealand, Botswana, and Chile. On Harmony Day students celebrated the multicultural country we choose to call home and joined in various activities in their classrooms.
