Two regional Better Business Bureaus (BBB) have merged to become a statewide entity.
The Detroit/Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan BBBs announced Wednesday they are merging to become the BBB of Michigan, making it one of the largest bureaus in North America, with an increased ability to educate consumers and businesses as well as expand programs.
The President and CEO of the new BBB of Michigan is Lisa Frohnapfel, the former President and CEO of BBB Western Michigan.
“Our goal is to provide a more efficient and effective BBB experience for all of Michigan,” Frohnapfel said. “By uniting our efforts, we will be better positioned to support businesses, educate consumers, and promote trust throughout the state.”
Going forward, the consolidated BBB aims to provide greater statewide support, expand services and programs such as accreditation, dispute resolution and scam tracking and enforce a commitment to ethical business practices, consumer protection and community engagement, according to BBB officials.
