JEE Main 2025 April Session Day 2 Exam Analysis: Was the BE, BTech paper difficult?

The JEE Main day 2 exam took place in two sessions: morning (9 am-12 pm) and afternoon (3 pm-6 pm). The JEE Main 2025 session 2 exam, which began on April 2, will run until April 9. Each subject comprises two sections: Section 1, featuring 20 multiple-choice questions with a single correct answer, and Section 2, consisting of five numerical-based questions.

JEE Main 2025: April 3 morning shift subject-wise analysis

According to Ajay Sharma, National Academic Director, Engineering of Aakash Educational Services Limited, most students found the Physics section moderate, with a strong presence of numerical questions. “The topic distribution was fairly balanced, with significant weightage given to Mechanics, Electrostatics, Optics, and Units & Measurements, however, modern Physics and Magnetism had fewer questions, and notably, EMI and AC chapters were not covered,” said he.

Chemistry section is rated easy to moderate. He said that all the chapters were included, with Inorganic and Physical Chemistry carrying the most weight, while Organic Chemistry had fewer questions. Most theoretical questions were directly taken from NCERT, making them straightforward, although a few required extra time to solve.

While, the Mathematics section was moderate to difficult, with questions well-distributed across various topics. Key areas covered in the JEE Main morning session were Matrices, 3D Geometry, Vectors, Conic Sections, Calculus, and Determinants with some questions being lengthy and time-consuming, adding to the challenge for aspirants.

JEE Main April 3 Afternoon Shift Analysis

According to Ajay Sharma, National Academic Director, Engineering, Aakash Educational Services Limited, physics was the easiest in the afternoon session of April 3 exam, while mathematics was moderate, and chemistry ranged from moderate to difficult, primarily due to statement-based questions. While the question distribution was generally balanced, some topics received more focus, while others were absent.

Physics
Physics was the easiest section, with a strong presence of numerical and formula-based questions. The distribution covered major topics like Mechanics, Modern Physics, Electrostatics, Optics, and Units & Measurements. However, AC and Magnetism had fewer questions, while Rotation and EMI were absent. Although a few questions were time-consuming, the majority were straightforward, making this section a scoring opportunity for students.

Chemistry
The Chemistry section was rated moderate to difficult, mainly due to a high number of statement-based and unconventional questions. Almost all chapters were included, but Inorganic Chemistry had the highest weightage, while Physical Chemistry was moderately covered, and Organic Chemistry had the least representation. Although most theoretical questions were directly from NCERT, recalling data proved challenging. Physical Chemistry was relatively standard, with fewer numerical questions.

Mathematics
Mathematics was moderate to difficult, with well-distributed questions across various topics. Matrices, 3D Geometry, Vectors, and Conic Sections had a strong presence, while Calculus had fewer questions. Some problems were lengthy and time-consuming, making time management crucial.

JEE Main 2025: April 2 morning shift subject-wise analysis

According to Ramesh Batlish, JEE expert, Aakash Invictus, the shift 1 exam on April 2, physics was moderately tricky, mathematics was moderate and lengthy, and chemistry was easy. “Overall, this paper was of a moderate level as per students,” he said.

The JEE expert also listed the topics covered on the April 2 morning session exam.

Mathematics: The paper had a strong focus on calculus, coordinate geometry, and algebra. Some students noted that Vector and 3D Geometry questions were present but not difficult. A few lengthy calculations in certain questions made time management crucial, but the overall difficulty was balanced. The Numerical Section had lengthy calculations.

Physics: More weightage given to mechanics, electrostatics and current electricity. Chapters included kinematics, gravitation, rotational motion, SHM, laws of motion, magnetism, ray optics, modern physics, work power and energy, heat and thermodynamics. Numerical based questions were easy. Few fact-based questions from Class 12 chapters of NCERT were also asked.

The first session of today’s exam presented a mix of challenges. Mathematics and physics were relatively easier, while Chemistry was slightly tricky, much like yesterday’s paper. The questions ranged from moderate to difficult, with a greater emphasis on Organic Chemistry.

Mathematics questions were straightforward, except for a few lengthy problems. However, both Maths and Physics provided ample scoring opportunities, as many questions were direct formula-based and could be attempted easily. The overall difficulty level for these subjects appeared to be lower than usual.
