As June’s Miss Utah competition approaches, fundraising efforts are reaching a fever pitch across the state. For the Miss Carbon County Scholarship Organization, that effort now focuses on Easter with the groups’ Hoppy Easter Egg Fill-A-Thon’.
Castle Country Radio was joined by the Miss Carbon County organization to speak on the event and the group’s upcoming plans.
Kicking things off was Miss Carbon County herself, Shalyce Rauhala. Recently returning from the Miss Utah workshop, Rauhala discussed her preparation for the competition. “We were meeting all our sponsors and they got to talk to us. They gave us a view of what they do … We talked about what it will look like for Miss Utah, what to prepare for on pageant day, pageant week and the parade of shoes. So a lot is going on and just what to expect and what to get ready for.”
Moving to the Easter fundraiser, Rauhala explained what the event would entail,” The Hoppy Easter Egg Fill-A-Thon is where we get to fill your Easter eggs, and we get to stuff them for you. Take the load off for Easter and relax because we got you.” She continued,” So you can do 30 eggs for $25, 50 eggs for $40, 75 eggs for $65, or 100 eggs for $85. And then we have three dates to pick them up. So once you fill out the response, you can pick the date you want to pick them up.”
Orders for the fundraiser can be placed online through this form.
Rauhala also reflected on what she is most looking forward to the remainder of her time as Miss Carbon County,” I would say being able to share my platform as much as I can and getting to spend the rest of my time with these girls. They’re everything to me. They have become my sisters.”
Next to take the mic was Miss Teen Carbon County Berkley Brady. Brady opened by discussing her experience at the Miss Teen Utah pageant. “It was so amazing. I got to meet so many amazing and phenomenal girls through that organization. And the judges were so amazing. Just performing on that stage was so surreal. I loved every single moment.”
Brady said of her excitement for the Hoppy Easter Egg Fill-A-Thon,” I’m excited to see who all comes. I’m excited to see all the amazing families that get to come and support Shalyce on her Miss Utah journey.”
Following Brady, Junior Miss Taylee Brower joined the fray. Running her platform on kindness cards, Brower explained the impact her initiative has had,” It’s actually been going really good. Last Monday, I went to the fourth and fifth grade classes and taught them about my platform and I made kindness cards with them. I want to show everybody that kindness cards can help with anything that you need to do. I just love serving in my community.”
“Easter is one of my favorite holidays,” Brower explained of the fundraiser. Just having all the candy really is fun. But I’m really excited to see how it has turned out and how much money we raised for Miss Utah.”
Little Miss Paisley Jenkins stepped into the spotlight after Brower. Jenkins spoke on what excited her most about the Fill-A-Thon:” I’m just excited to help the Easter Bunny and families that can’t afford all the Easter eggs and that I can help kids my age get all the Easter magic.”
Rounding out the group was Mini Miss Adalyn Jones, who shared that she wanted to “help kids and to have fun” and “spend time with my pageant sisters” during the event.
The Miss Carbon County Scholarship Organization’s’ Hoppy Easter Egg Fill-A-Thon’ will have pickup options available on April 16, 17 and 18. Orders for the fundraiser can be placed online through this form. More information is available on the Miss Carbon County Facebook page.
