Okahao donates land to education ministry

The Okahao Town Council, through a council resolution undertaken in August 2023, has donated land to the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture intended for the construction of a new primary school.

On Thursday, the Omusati Regional Council, through its Directorate of Education, Arts and Culture, paid a courtesy visit to the Okahao Town Council to show the ministry’s readiness to begin with the construction.

The council’s spokesperson, Victoria Haihambo, said this long-awaited school aims to ease overcrowding at the existing Okahao Primary School.

“The council is pleased to inform residents that during the 2025/2026 financial year, the ministry will commence construction on the donated 1.9-hectare plot. Work is set to begin as soon as possible,” she said.

She added that phase one of the construction will include four classrooms, one administration office block, and one library and resource centre.

“The council extends its gratitude to the central government through the ministry for providing the necessary resources to bring this project to life. As a council, we remain committed to prioritising education as a key part of our development efforts,” said Haihambo
