Ames, Iowa — Sheldon middle and high school students were honored for their participation in the State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa recently.
Sheldon teacher Jim Gude tells us Douglas Nilles, took second place in the FFA’s Division 5 Plant Sciences. Brooke Jonas and Taylor Stellinga finished third in the Junior High Plant Sciences Division. Brooke and Taylor also took third place honors in the 8th grade Biological Science Seminar Competition, a special competition that required them to submit their research for prior consideration to qualify for this competition.
He says Andie DeGroot and Makaiah Vermeer received honorable mention recognition in the Animal Sciences Division. DeGroot, Vermeer, Jonas, and Stellinga also qualified to have their projects entered in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge, a nationwide competition for junior high-level research projects.
