Nevada men's basketball got on the board Friday with its first commitment out of the transfer portal this offseason, landing a pledge from Fresno State's Elijah Price.
Price is a 6-foot-9, 195-pounder from Long Beach, Calif., who moves to his third college in as many seasons. He has three years of college eligibility remaining.
Price redshirted at Drake in 2023-24 before being one of the Mountain West's most productive freshmen last season at Fresno State, averaging 10.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 assists per game. Those 10.5 points per game were the most among MW freshmen and ranked 26th overall in the conference.
Price shot 40.1 percent from the field, making 4-of-38 threes (10.5 percent). He got the free throw line 209 times, shooting 65.6 percent from the stripe. Those 209 free throws were the third most in the MW behind New Mexico's Donovan Dent (227) and Boise State's Tyson Degenhart (212).
A long wing player, Price should step into a starting role for the Wolf Pack at a position of need with Nevada returning just three players who appeared in a game last season in Tyler Rolison, Chuck Bailey III and Jeriah Coleman. Price played his prep ball at St. Anthony's High School where he was a two-time first-team all-division honoree who averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds as a senior before a year at Golden State Prep.
Price and Rolison hail from the same part of California and each played in the Del Rey League. Both were part of the 2023 recruiting class with Price a three-star prospect who picked Drake over scholarship offers from Pacific, Cal Poly, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara and Loyola Marymount.
Last season at Fresno State, Price tied a career high with 17 points against Nevada in the MW Tournament's first round, an 86-71 Wolf Pack win. He added 11 rebounds and two assists in that game. Price recorded a double-double in 11 games last season for the Bulldogs, who went 6-26 overall and 2-18 in the MW (10th out of 11 teams).
Price also reported interest from Houston, Oklahoma, DePaul, TCU, Clemson, San Diego State, Vanderbilt, Boise State, Utah State, Colorado State, UNLV and Washington State after entering the transfer portal.
