The Kerala School of Mathematics (KSoM) at Kozhikode has invited applications for admission to its Integrated MSc-PhD program in Mathematics.
KSoM, a joint initiative of the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), Government of Kerala and the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, is a national institute for advanced research in Mathematics.

Integrated MSc-PhD Program is an advanced training program at the postgraduate level leading to doctoral studies. The coursework is very flexible with a focus on grooming students for a research career in Mathematics. Depending on the choice of the electives, a student also has the option to choose a research career in Physics or Theoretical Computer Science as well.
The duration of the programme shall be a minimum of ten semesters and a maximum of sixteen semesters. The first four semesters are dedicated to the Master’s level coursework and the remaining towards doctoral studies leading to a PhD. An academic year has two semesters, one from July/August to November and the other from January to May. There will be a break between two semesters.

The salient features of the Program include (i) a scholarship of Rs. 6000/- per month to all candidates during the MSc part (2 years) of the program (ii) A scholarship amount equivalent to other national scholarship schemes to the qualifying candidates during the PhD part (from 3rd year onwards) of the program (iii) An exit policy that allows students to leave the program with an MSc degree after two years of the program if they so desire (iv) Subsidised on campus accommodation to all selected candidates (v) free access to the institute facilities such as library, and other online resources related to their study (vi) An academic environment with national and international level lectures, workshops, seminars and conferences to enrich the program.
A maximum of 12 students shall be selected every year.
Eligibility: Applicant should hold a B.Sc., B.Math., B.Stat. or equivalent degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects or BE/B.Tech. or equivalent degree.
Selection: Selection is a two-tier process involving an initial screening from any of the following examinations: (i) Written test to be conducted by KSoM on May 18, 2025, at Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kozhikode, Mumbai, Prayagraj and Trivandrum (ii) Written examination for the NBHM Masters’/Doctoral Scholarship Scheme conducted on January 25, 2025 (iii) National level examination to be conducted by Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) on May 24, 2025 for their MSc program. The final selection thereafter will be based on a test/interview at KSoM.
