A unique new revenge thriller is beginning on BBC One and features a mostly unknown cast. Reunion is a bilingual production in British Sign Language (BSL) and spoken English.

The four-part drama follows the journey of Daniel Brennan "a deaf man determined to right his wrongs". A key feature of the series is its bilingual nature, incorporating both British Sign Language (BSL) and spoken English.


It was written by William Mager, a deaf writer from Sheffield. Reunion is an emotional thriller of revenge and redemption following the journey of Daniel who is unravelling the truth behind the events that led him to prison. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter

Daniel embodies the struggle of a man caught between two worlds, unable to fully integrate into the hearing world and shunned by his closest friends and the wider deaf community following his heinous crime. Amidst this isolation, Brennan's only meaningful relationship is with his estranged daughter Carly who he has not had any contact with since his arrest over a decade ago.

The cast has a great mix of new faces and famous stars including Strictly Come Dancing winner Rose Ayling-Ellis, Matthew Gurney and Eddie Marsan. Reunion begins on BBC One at 9pm on Monday, April 7.

Matthew Gurney as Daniel Brennan: Playing the main character Daniel Brennan is Matthew Gurney. He has previously starred in Coffee Morning Club, Small World and The Doll.


Lara Peake as Carly: Taking the role of Carly, Daniel's daughter, is Lara Peake. She is known for the Channel 4 series Born to Kill and the BBC Three series Mood. She also starred in the hit Disney series Rivals.

Anne-Marie Duff as Christine: Anne-Marie Duff is playing Christine. Anne-Marie is an award-winning actress and her roles include starring in Bad Sisters, Sex Education and His Dark Materials.

Eddie Marsan as Stephen: Playing Stephen is Eddie Marsan. Eddie is another award-winning actor and he has been in Heartstopper, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe and Ridley Road.

Rose Ayling-Ellis as Miri: Rose Ayling-Ellis shot to national fame when she won Strictly Come Dancing in 2021. She is playing Miri and is also known for her roles in EastEnders and Doctor Who.

Stephen Collins as Sean: Stephen Collins is playing Sean. His TV credits include Dune, Doctors and Nonsense.


Ace Mahbaz as Ray Mokhtar: Ace Mahbaz is the co-creator of Small World and he is playing Ray Mokhtar. He is a well-known figure in the deaf community, having appeared in theatre plays and films using sign language.

Sophie Stone as Naomi Brennan: Sophie Stone was the first deaf student to win a place at the drama school RADA. She is playing Naomi Brennan and is best known for her roles as Louise in Two Doors Down and Doctor Who as Cass.

She also plays forensics officer Ashley Wilton in the Acorn TV detective series The Chelsea Detective.


Olive Gray as Anna Shenford: Olive Gray is the eldest child of Fame Academy judges and singers David and Carrie Grant. They are playing Anna Shenford and have starred in The Story of Tracy Beaker, Fleabag and Halo.

Joe Sims as Joe Summers: Best known for his role in Broadchurch, Joe Sims is playing Joe Summers. He has also starred in Doctor Who and Ruby Speaking.

Julian Peedle-Calloo as Gardner: Julian Peedle-Calloo is a British actor, writer, director and television presenter, he has been deaf since birth and is a presenter of the BBC deaf magazine programme See Hear. He is playing Gardner and has starred in New Tricks and Holby City.

Cherie Gordon as Tasha: Playing Tasha is Cherie Gordon. She has starred in Boat Story.

Rinkoo Barpaga as Vinay: Rinkoo Barpaga is well known in the deaf community as an actor, director, stand-up comedian and other roles. He is playing Vinay and recently had his own documentary called Birmingham Made Me.


James Joseph Boyle as Matthew: Playing Matthew is James Joseph Boyle. He has previously starred in Retreat.

Sophie Allen as Danni: Previously starring in Ludwig and Waterloo Road Sophie Allen is playing Danni. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter.

Joanne Harrison as Daniel's mum: Playing Daniel's mum is Joanne Harrison. She has been in They Nest.

David Hirshman as Daniel's dad: Playing Daniel's dad is David Hirshman who has previously been in Signs of an Affair and The Fingerspellers.
