The news comes amid similar events reported in other states and universities.
A number of international students at Columbia University had their visas revoked in March, and according to the Lexington Herald-Leader, the University of Cincinnati and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville have reported that student visas are at risk.
UK spokesperson Jay Blanton could not provide information regarding the current status of the students affected by the visa revocations or the total number of students who had their visas revoked.
"Our process is to immediately reach out to students in these circumstances and try to provide information and support that we can. We're not in a position to discuss any details around these issues. We're talking about a very small number of students, and we don't want to disclose any details that might compromise their privacy rights under the law," he told WUKY.
In March, the Department of Education announced they would investigate a number of universities, including UK, because of their diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, which they were told to get rid of in a letter received by UK in the same month.
UK has since cut ties with what's known as the Ph.D Project, a move the school hopes will resolve the matter.
