The Preatures have formally expanded their late 2024 reunion with an extensive national tour, taking them around the country from early June into August. The shows will see the band celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their acclaimed debut studio album, 2014’s Blue Planet Eyes, by performing it each night in its entirety. The full list of tour dates, as well as pre-sale and ticketing information, can be found below.
The band will be supported on the tour by Adelaide alternative rock band The Tullamarines for the majority of its dates – with the exception of the first three, which will see them joined by Wollongong singer-songwriter Bec Sandridge. The tour was pre-empted by the band’s announcement on the line-up for this year’s Open Season, which will see them perform at the Princess Theatre in Brisbane’s west this July.
“We’re so happy to be back doing what we love: Playing live, connecting with fans and travelling around Australia,” the band said in a joint press statement announcing the tour. “This tour is dedicated to everyone who has supported The Preatures, through all our changes as a group and as individuals. We’re so excited to have the chance to play Blue Planet Eyes, along with the deep cuts… [and] maybe even some new songs.”
The Preatures – ‘Somebody’s Talking’
Blue Planet Eyes was originally released in September of 2014. It peaked at number four on the ARIA Albums Chart, and was later certified Gold. It was nominated for that year’s J Award for Australian Album Of The Year, as well as for Best Rock Album at the 2015 ARIA Awards. To commemorate the anniversary, the band will reissue the album on vinyl – which will be available at the shows, and can be pre-ordered here.
Prior to December 2024, The Preatures had not performed live in over five years. The band split acrimoniously in May 2021, with lead vocalist Isabella Manfredi launching her own solo career shortly thereafter. Guitarist Jack Moffitt performed with Tyne-James Organ and joined Dan Sultan‘s backing band for his self-titled album, while drummer Luke Davison performed with the likes of Dean Lewis and Delta Goodrem. The 2024 reunion of the band saw its full original five-piece line-up rejoining, including founding guitarist and vocalist Gideon Bensen – who himself had exited the fold circa 2016 to pursue his own solo endeavour. The band carried on as a four-piece thereafter.
