A North Carolina singer's "American Idol" journey has come to an end.
On Monday, April 7, Brooke Renshaw, a vocalist with the Wilmington band Oc3ans, was not one of 24 singers selected by judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and 2005 "Idol" winner Carrie Underwood to move on to the "America votes" round of the long-running reality competition show.
Renshaw actually wasn't shown singing during her "Idol" run, although she was featured in many shots and shown talking with other competitors or watching them perform.
At the end of the day, however, the fact that she made it into the final 42, beating out hundreds if not thousands of other hopefuls, is a testament to her talent.
"Although I wasn’t featured this season, I want to thank everyone for following along and for the overwhelming amount of love and support," Renshaw posted to her social media accounts. "Making it to the top 42 feels like a dream and I couldn’t feel more grateful to be a part of this experience."
"I learned so much about myself as a person and as an artist," she continued. "I gained SOOO much confidence in my voice and my stage presence. I sang for 900 people in the Orpheum Theatre???? … This is just the beginning."
"American Idol," which began on Fox and now airs on ABC, is in its 23rd season. It's hosted by Ryan Seacrest.
Renshaw is well-known on the Wilmington music scene as the lead vocalist for Oc3ans, which plays a range of soulful rock covers and originals and also includes guitarist Josh Boyd, drummer Joey Lamb and MC Jared Sales.
