ABU DHABI // A hospital in Khalifa City has marked the birth of the first baby born there.
The Emirati, Hamad Salem Humaid Aldhaheri, was born weighing 3kg on Monday, four months after the NMC Royal Hospital began accepting inpatients.
Father Salem Humaid said it was an “amazing feeling” to hold his son.
“We are extremely grateful to the staff for the diligent and comforting care they provided me and my wife,” he said.
Shortly after the birth, the family were visited by Dr BR Shetty, executive vice chairman and chief executive of NMC Healthcare, who passed on his congratulations.
The Dh734 million facility has 250 beds, with room to double that number to serve the surrounding communities.
NMC Royal has emergency, critical care, neuroscience, cardiac sciences, gastroenterology, hepatology, urology, oncology and nephrology facilities.
