GRAND FORKS, N.D. (UND Athletics)– University of North Dakota head hockey coach Dane Jackson announced on Friday that forward Anthony Menghini (pronounced MEN-gee-knee) has signed a valid grant-in-aid (GIA) and will join the hockey program beginning in 2025-26. Menghini has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
“Anthony plays a very competitive, hard game coupled with his elite skating ability and we are excited to add that to our locker room,” said Jackson. “Any time you can add someone who has deep-rooted family connections to our program, it can only elevate those around him both on-and-off the ice.”
Menghini spent the last two seasons at Minnesota Duluth, where he finished near the top of the team lead in goals over each of his first two years with the Bulldogs. In 71 games, Menghini scored 20 goals and added nine helpers for 29 points while also pacing the team in plus/minus rating in both 2023-24 and 2024-25.
He is coming off a 12-goal, 19-point campaign in 2024-25, where he notched 11 of those tallies against NCHC foes to lead all Bulldog skaters and rank tied for fifth in the conference. He closed the season with points in his last five games, including a multi-point outing with a pair of goals in a 3-2 win over St. Cloud State.
The Baxter, Minn., native is familiar with playing in North Dakota, as he shined for the USHL’s Fargo Force during the 2022-23 season. While with the Force, Menghini tallied 21 goals and 36 points while playing alongside current UND forward Mac Swanson.
Prior to Fargo, he also teamed up with current UND forwards Ben Strinden and Cody Croal at Northstar Christian Academy in Alexandria, Minn as well as current UND golfer Erik Stoxen at Brainerd High School.
Menghini will be introduced to the media on Monday morning at 8 a.m. via Zoom.
