MISSOULA, Mont. — Hundreds of residents gathered at Silver Park on Saturday morning to participate in Missoula's 33rd annual 'Run for the Trees' event.
Residents in attendance got the opportunity to choose to run a timed 10k or 5k or a free, untimed one-mile family fun run.
The races' routes included some of Missoula's park spaces, trails and part of the University of Montana campus.
At the event, all 10k and 5k runners received a free tree sampling from the program Trees for Missoula.
Officials say the annual run aims to celebrate Missoula's vibrant urban forests while supporting a greener and healthier community.
All proceeds from the event reportedly benefit Missoula's mission to improve the city's environment while fostering community connections and deepening residents' bond with nature.
Run for the Trees is hosted by Run Wild Missoula, which aims to support Missoula athletes of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
