Ex-King Gyanendra Breaks Silence on Tinkune Violence, Urges Restraint During Public Protests: Former King Gyanendra Shah has spoken out two weeks after the violent protest that took place in Tinkune, Kathmandu. The violence, arson, and vandalism that occurred during the recent public demonstration caused human and material loss, which is deeply saddening.”

He also remarked that the growing public awareness among citizens is a positive sign. “There is no greater system or ideology than civil liberty. True democracy exists where there is a tradition and culture of listening to the people’s grievances—good or bad. The rising awareness among the Nepali people about the nation and its future is something we see as positive,” he added.
