CRAIG COUNTY, OKLA (KTUL) — The Craig County Sheriff's Office has opened an investigation concerning the conduct of an employee of Welch Public Schools.
According to WPS, the employee has been removed from the school, and the district is cooperating.
WPS released the following statement regarding the situation to parents and community members:
Welch Public Schools was made aware this morning by Craig County Sheriff's Investigators of an ongoing law enforcement investigation concerning the conduct of a school district employee. Providing a safe and appropriate learning environment for students is the top priority of Welch Public Schools. Because of this, when Welch Public Schools was made aware of these allegations of inappropriate conduct, it immediately removed the employee from the school environment. The District is fully cooperating with law enforcement during its investigation to assure the safety of all students and will continue to do so. Because of the ongoing law enforcement investigation and privacy rights of students under federal and state law, it would be inappropriate for Welch Public Schools to make any further comment on this matter at this time.
