Qatar to invest QR55 billion in Turkey

Ankara: The Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued directives that will see Qatar provide a host of economic projects, investments, and deposits worth a total of QR55 billion ($15 billion) to support the Turkish economy. This came in a meeting with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which took place at the Presidential Complex in Ankara Wednesday afternoon.

The Amir and Erdogan discussed strategic bilateral relations. They also discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially in economic and investment fields. They also discussed the latest regional and international developments, and exchanged views regarding them.

 

Both sides stressed on the importance of resolving differences through dialogue and through diplomatic channels, in order to maintain the region's peace and stability.

The meeting was attended by their excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying the Amir. It was attended on the Turkish side by a number of their excellencies cabinet members.

"Qatar has pledged $15 billion of direct investments in Turkey," presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin wrote on Twitter.

"Turkish-Qatari relations are based on solid foundations of true friendship and solidarity," he said.
