A rather dull game. Japan looks underpowered and lacking in midfield creativity without the likes of Honda, Kagawa and Hasebe; their replacements don't look the part yet.

Reluctantly have to agree, although I think there is emerging talent there. The Saudi coach spoke true. Saudi Arabia looked sharp and fleet throughout, with more possession, more shots on goal and more stamina. Japan seemed to have shot their bolt too early, simply defending, and praying for the clock to keep ticking to the final whistle. Muto collected two yellows so he'll be out next match but that will give someone else a chance. (Gonda in goal was ok, but I seriously was impressed by Daniel Schmidt the other day against Uzbekistan.)
