The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) is celebrating its best results in a number of league tables this year.

In April, UWTSD won the ‘Courses and Lecturers’ award at this year’s national Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs). During the award ceremony, it was also announced that the university had been ranked eighth overall in the ‘University of the Year’ category.

Now in their sixth year, the WUSCAs recognise institutions for excellence in a wide variety of academic and social areas and offer prospective students a student-led alternative to traditional university ranking systems.

The following month, the university once again increased its ranking in The Complete University Guide (CUG) 2020 league table, climbing 13 places and an increase in ranking for the fourth consecutive year.

Once again, the results of this league table were extremely encouraging in relation to 'student satisfaction' and the university was particularly pleased with its top ten ranking in this category - securing an overall eighth position.

The Complete University Guide features 130 institutions across the UK and is based on ten measures including categories such as student satisfaction; student and staff ratio; graduate prospects; and completion and spending on student facilities.

Potential students can still apply for places on the university's courses through clearing this month

UWTSD has also jumped 29 positions in the prestigious Guardian 2020 University league table, a joint third highest increase in ranking in the UK this year. The university scored particularly well for the satisfied with feedback category, achieving a joint fifth position in the UK.

The university also secured a joint eighth position in the satisfied with teaching category, with several subjects also ranking in the top 10 overall in the UK, including Fashion and Textiles at first, Design and Crafts at seventh and Art at eighth place.

To top it all off, UWTSD was recently awarded a silver rating in the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF). This framework assesses excellence in teaching at universities and colleges, and how well they ensure excellent outcomes for their students in terms of graduate-level employment or further study.

Dr Mirjam Plantinga, the university’s associate pro vice-chancellor for Student Experience said: "Our strong emphasis on personalised learning, small classes, student support and working together with our students in close partnership has been crucial to achieving these results.

"Staff at UWTSD work hard to make university life for our students enjoyable and fulfilling, so to be recognised in this way is excellent news. The quality of the student experience is central to our mission."
